About

A federation of eight Haitian cocoa cooperatives representing ~4,000 smallholder farmers (about 40% women) in the Plaine-du-Nord. Founded in 2002, FECCANO produces fine fermented cocoa and in 2011 became Haiti's first exporter of certified fair-trade, organic cacao; its beans earned a Cacao d'Excellence award (2015) and are sourced by Valrhona (Cuvée Haïti 66%) and Ethiquable. Owned and controlled by its member farmers.
